January 12 — The Favor You Need

Scripture Reading:
Proverbs 12
Exodus 7:3–5
Jeremiah 31:3

“A good man will obtain favor from the Lord.”Proverbs 12:2

Perhaps as you begin your day, there is someone on your mind whose approval you deeply desire. Maybe you hope for their encouragement, their support, or an opportunity they alone can offer. Having their favor feels important — as though it would bring the security or confidence you’ve been longing for.

Moses understood this feeling well. As he stood before Pharaoh with the daunting task of leading Israel out of Egypt, he needed cooperation from someone who held immense earthly power. Yet instead of softening Pharaoh’s heart, God declared, “I will harden Pharaoh’s heart that I may multiply My signs and wonders in the land of Egypt” (Exodus 7:3).

Why would the Lord do this?

Because Moses — and all of Israel — needed to learn an essential truth: the favor that truly matters does not come from people. It comes from God Himself. Human approval is limited, fragile, and fleeting. God’s favor is sufficient, unchanging, and perfectly timed.

The same is true for you today. Whether God turns another person’s heart toward you or allows resistance to remain, understand this: you already possess the favor you truly need. As a child of the Most High, you are loved with an everlasting love (Jeremiah 31:3), supported by divine wisdom, and strengthened by His presence.

So do not fear rejection or feel anxious when others withhold approval. Rejoice instead in the truth that the One who matters most will never withdraw His favor from you. He will guide, sustain, and equip you for everything He has called you to do.

Closing Prayer

Father, thank You that because Jesus is my Savior, I always have Your favor. Thank You for providing everything I truly need. Help me to trust You fully today. Amen.
