January 14 — Your Fountain of Life

Scripture Reading:
Proverbs 14
Isaiah 40:29

“The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life.”
Proverbs 14:27

As you read today’s verse, you may be longing for that fountain of life to spring up and renew your energy and strength. There are seasons when burdens and obstacles drain every ounce of motivation and will to keep going. In moments like that, it can feel confusing to hear that the fear of the Lord is the path to true life—after all, anxiety itself is exhausting.

But this verse does not mean you should be afraid of God.

As a believer, you have no reason to fear your loving Heavenly Father. The original Hebrew word for fear speaks instead of reverence—a deep respect for who God is and a humble submission to His ways. God’s holy, righteous, and just character should inspire awe, not dread. And recognizing His greatness helps you understand how profoundly blessed you are to live under His guidance, protection, and love.

When you respect God and obey His Word, you don’t have to live in fear about your future. You can trust that He will lead you in the best possible way. He promises to give strength to the weary and power to those who feel faint.

“He gives strength to the weary, and to him who lacks might He increases power.”
Isaiah 40:29

Friend, when your view of God is too small, you’ll be tempted to rely on yourself—and that quickly drains your hope and energy. But when your confidence rests in the matchless character of God, you can remain joyful even in the midst of trials. His strength does not run out. His wisdom does not fail.

So trust Him today. Walk in reverence, obedience, and confidence. And experience the fountain of life He created you to enjoy.

God will give you the wisdom you need to walk forward faithfully.

Closing Prayer

Father, You alone are God and worthy of my praise. May Your life flow through me and renew my strength today. Amen.
