January 7 — Walking One Step at a Time

Scripture Reading:
Proverbs 16
Psalm 37:23–24

“The steps of a man are ordered by the Lord,
And He delights in his way.”
— Proverbs 16:9

It’s easy to want clarity about the whole journey — where you’re headed, how long it will take, and whether you’re making the right decisions along the way. But God rarely reveals the entire path at once.

Instead, He leads step by step.

Scripture reminds us that while we may plan our way, it is the Lord who establishes our steps. Not all at once. Not years in advance. But faithfully, deliberately, and with purpose — one step at a time.

This can feel frustrating, especially when you’re eager for progress or certainty. You may wish God would show you the full picture so you could move forward with confidence. But walking by faith means trusting Him even when the next step is the only one made clear.

The good news is this: God is not asking you to figure everything out. He is asking you to stay close to Him.

When you commit your way to the Lord, He promises to direct your path. Even when you stumble, even when the road feels uneven, Scripture assures us that the righteous may fall — but they will not be utterly cast down, because the Lord upholds them with His hand.

Today, you don’t need to have every answer. You only need to take the step God is placing in front of you — in obedience, humility, and trust.

He is guiding you more closely than you realize.

Closing Prayer

Father, thank You for ordering my steps, even when I cannot see the whole path ahead.
Help me to trust You with today — not worrying about tomorrow.
Teach me to walk faithfully, one step at a time, knowing You are leading me.
Amen.
